Architectural Crochet and Yarn Wrapping

I don’t remember when I first started working with yarn but I do know that the excitement of creating textured, highly tactile, richly coloured fabric from one continuous thread of fibre will never leave me.
Until recently my work has consisted mainly of crocheted, knitted and washing-machine felted wall hangings. Some are sculptural in appearance, some have multiple shapes fitted together to form a patterned whole but all are essentially abstract.
Since then I have discovered ‘yarn wrapping’ and have been making Bauhaus inspired wall art. This involves wrapping yarn around pre-cut ply board in layers alternating and varying the number of strands to create a yarn ‘painting’ of geometrical shapes.
Now I’m looking forward to exploring this further; experimenting with a variety of yarns and introducing embellishments to enhance the designs.
